A sauna cabin for rest, heat and recovery
Umi Refuge is a compact sauna cabin focused on physical and mental recovery. It is designed around the simple relationship between heat, water and air.
The structure is built from thermally treated timber that retains warmth efficiently and lasts in humid conditions. An off-grid heating system provides steady heat, while controlled ventilation keeps the air fresh and balanced.
Large windows allow you to look out into the landscape while staying inside the warm, sheltered space. A small outdoor deck provides a place to cool down between sessions.
The design is minimal and direct. Nothing is added unless it supports comfort, durability or a clear sensory experience. The cabin offers a straightforward place to slow down and reset.
